Zone rouge, what is that?

All this flooding reminds me when we first came here in 2001, our second year here we had some friends who had recently come, we were having drinks " chez nous"

They told us when they were signing the final act de vente they were suprised when the notaire pointed out that they would be in a zone rouge. They did not know what this meant so blithely carried on and signed, they found out later they were in a flood zone.

We discussed it, it was raining heavily but we said "  loads of houses are in zone rouges.

We had a fun evening they left for home.... to find their house was totally surrounded by flood water and they could not get in!!

The couple have now moved on to dry pastures new.
