A dull and rainy day in prospect for the start of the French holiday season. Along with traffic jams and the start of the Tour de France there are many other changes taking place today. The TGV trains running on the Paris/Bordeaux now complete high speed line (LGV) from today will link the Girondin city with the capital in two hours. A similar line linking Paris and Rennes also comes into use. By 2025 it is hoped that Toulouse will be linked, to give a journey time of under 4 hours.
