Dont drink the water at Caylus

Samples of water taken at the Grotte de St Pierre de Livron which comes directly from the water table has revealed an alarming presence of cryptosporidium bacteria, implying that the water from which the Caylus pumping station may also be contaminated.
The contamination is said to be from animal sewage and the bacteria is harmful to humans. The pumping station is said to be too old to treat the water adequately and a micro-filtration plant will be installed, but will take some days to put into place.
Meanwhile the water should be boiled for 5 minutes and the water syndicate is distributing 2 bottles per person per day. Enquiries should be made to the mairie or the Syndicat des Eaux du canton de Caylus.  The situation should be normal by the 12th or 13th July.
