Puppet theatre threatened

For the last 10 years a space wholly dedicated to marionettes has been one of Villemur sur Tarn's principal attractions. Usinotopie offers not only a 100 seat theatre, but workshops and teaching facilities. Last year over 800 school children visited the site, not just to see shows presented by visiting troupes, but to see how the marionettes are made and participate in the productions. But now it is threatened with closure due to lack of funds
Travelling puppet shows seem to be very popular in France, appealing not only to children but to all ages.
Taglines readers may recall the wonderful presentation at the Domaine de Sautou a year or two back given by a troupe (well, one man and his companion) which had us and the watching children enthralled.
What a pity if Usinotopie had to close for lack of funds. It receives subsidies from local authorities, but needs far more than the 40000 euros it has to continue to support its visiting companies and pedagogic activities.
